Crum Likes Gators

Maurice Crum, Jr. , one of the top linebackers from the state of Florida, is eyeing the Gators and many others.

Maurice Crum, Jr. is one of the top linebackers from the state of Florida this season and it is a deep year for linebackers in the Sunshine State. Crum, 6-0 and 215 pounds, is from Tampa (Fla.) Tampa Bay Tech High School. If the name sounds familiar, his father, Maurice Crum, Sr., played for the Miami Hurricanes, Tampa Bay and Dallas.

"My father taught me a lot of stuff about football at a young age," Crum said. "He put me ahead of the other players."

Last season as a junior, Crum recorded 100 tackles, 13 tackles for a loss and 3 interceptions. He played all three linebacker spots.

"I prefer the outside but I can play them all. I am a smart player with good instincts. I get into the right position and just run to the ball."

At this time, Crum does not know whether he has any scholarship offers. But he does like some schools both in and out of the state of Florida.

"Right now I like Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech, Florida, Florida State, Miami and Maryland. I am pretty open. I want to try and take all those visits and see what is out there. I prefer to stay in the South. I also want to be a dentist and I am looking at the Dental Schools out there as well."

Crum attended the Nike Camp at Miami.
