Gators Ranked Preseason No. 23

The Gators will start the season ranked No. 23 in the USA Today Preseason Coaches Poll. After an 8-5 record last season, Florida is one of eight SEC teams to be ranked in the top 25 to start the season. The Gators are one of five ranked teams that ended last season unranked.

Florida is sandwiched between two teams that had losing records last season, in Georgia (6-7) at No. 22 and Texas (5-7) at No. 24.

Oklahoma will start the season No. 1 after going 12-2 last season. Alabama came in at No. 2 and LSU ranked No. 4. Florida State rounded out the top five after ending last season with a 10-4 record and ranked No. 16 in the country.

South Carolina will start the season at No. 12 after going 9-5 and playing in the SEC Championship game last season.

Five of the six teams in the SEC West will start the season ranked. Besides Alabama and LSU, Arkansas is No. 14, Auburn is No. 19 and Mississippi State is No. 20. Ole Miss was the only SEC West team not to be ranked.
