Jelani Jenkins says he finds comfort in the fact that he will be sticking to one spot on the gator linebacking corps this season. Last season, as many may remember, FL coaches had the linebackers learn the Mike, Sam and Will LB spots. Jenkins says he will take last year's experience and use it to help him this year as he settles in to a more definite role. Tune into this video for more. JJ: "We've got a lot of talented guys. We've got Mike Taylor, Stewart and Darrin Kitchens. All these guys can possibly be that third guy. Dee Finley too. We will see during camp who steps up but I'm confident in all those guys and I'm looking forward to playing with them."
LM: "Muschamp said that Dee (Finley) has been a little inconsistent but when he's good, he's really good. Do you think Dee can get it going?"
JJ: "He's been there longer than me so I think that helps out his experience and he plays a lot of special teams. I think he can be a little inconsistent but once he learns the schemes he can play fast and we need him so I think he'll step up."
LM: "Athletically, Darrin Kitchens has it all together but what about mentally?"
JJ: "I think mentally he needs to step it up but, like you said, athletically he has it all together. So, once he learns it all, he will be really good."
LM: "So, what about Bostic?"
JJ: "He does everything well. He's a leader and he plays fast. He hits and he's very talented. I think we have a lot of chemistry on the field together. When he makes a mistake, I have his back and when I make a mistake he has my back. I think that chemistry is probably the best thing and our experience together. I'm looking forward to playing with him too."
LM: "Last year you guys had to learn all three linebacker positions. I know they're doing something a little different this year but do you think that helped you at all? Now, you know what's going on no matter what.
JJ: "It was definitely harder last year with us being moved around a whole lot. But, this year I'm kind of set in stone. I think last year we learned a lot with the experience because we were able to play a lot of different linebacker positions but really a lot of it is playing the same way. I think it did make us better. The fact that we can be more versatile and cover more."
LM: " But you feel a lot better now that you can play one position and know that's what you're doing?"
JJ: "Yes, exactly."
