Jaye Howard Gets SEC Honor

Senior defensive tackle Jaye Howard starts off his last year as a Gator in prime fashion winning defensive lineman of the week honors from the conference. Howard who thought about entering his name in the 2011 NFL draft stayed on for his senior season at Florida and had a good start to that last year in a FAU game dominated buy the Florida defense and especially the line of scrimmage.

Jaye Howard is sharing the honor with Kentucky's Luke McDermott, but it is the first weekly honor of it's kind for Howard who has been a mainstay on the Florida line for a couple of years now.

Florida dominated on defense Saturday against FAU holding a rushing attack that gained over 200 yards a game last year to just 30 yards on 30 carries (1.0 average).

Howard had a sack and finished second on the team in tackles with four in a game that was played at 7 p.m. in Gainesville with a near capacity crowd. Florida won the game 41-3.
