Five-Star Walker Talks Serious With Donovan

Billy Donovan took full advantage of an orange and blue weekend In Florida and hosted some big time prospects for a Florida football game weekend. At the top of that list for the 2013 class is Bonifay (FL) 5-star forward Chris Walker who visited and by all accounts had a great time on campus. Walker found out a few things about what Donovan has in store for him if he signs with the Gators.

Chris Walker visited Florida this weekend along with 2013 5-star prospects Brannen Greene and Kasey Hill. Walker was able to take a lot in over the weekend and that included a football game in front of 90,000 fans.

"I got there Saturday about 12:30 and I went to the game," Walker said before giving his thoughts on this Gator football team. "I think Florida has a better defense this year and I think they can win the championship. I think they are real good. I really loved the atmosphere. It was the first time I have ever been to a football game at Florida."

The overall visit went well and he was able to get a lot in with so much going on.

"It went real good," he said. "I got to hang out with Brannen and got to meet all the Florida basketball players and all the coaches again. I got to meet the academic dude. I met the strength coach as well. I had a good talk with Billy Donovan and with the whole staff."

Donovan made sure that Walker knew how important it was for the big man to become a Gator and to represent his home state, a state that continues to put more and more top basketball talent out there.

"He told me that I can get it done in my own state," Walker said of Donovan. "He said that I can come in at Florida and be an elite player. He also said that I could come to Florida and be a one and done just like he knew I could get that done at Kentucky."

Walker got to meet up again with Kasey Hill and he hung out with Brannen Greene for most of the weekend. It was the meeting with Donovan that really stood out to him.

"Brannen Greene Is a good dude," Walker said. "I have known him since early in the eighth grade from AAU. I think that one-on-one talk with Billy Donovan was really big for me and stood out over the weekend visit."

Walker said a one year college plan is something he is really considering and that will all depend on where he is at the end of that year.

"I think if I am in the top 25 in the draft in 2014, then I would probably take that," Walker said.

He has plans to visit others soon and has been able to start really rounding out his favorites when it comes to college.

"I think I am going to Georgia Tech this next weekend, but not sure," he said. "The next weekend I am going to go to Florida State for the Oklahoma game. I will also head to Kentucky for Midnight Madness on October 15.

"Georgia Tech is in my top ten, Kentucky is in my top three, and FSU in my top five. Florida is in the top three along with Ohio State."

Florida hopes this weekend helps go a long way in making the Gators his top One.
