Gators Accept Gator Bowl Invitation

Florida accepted an invitation to play in the Gator Bowl on January 2. The game will be televised on ESPN2 at 1 p.m. when the Gators take on Ohio State. This is Florida's 21st straight bowl appearance, ranking first in the SEC and second nationally. The Gators have been to 18 January bowls since 1993, which is the highest total in the country.

The bowl game will serve as Florida's ninth appearance in the Gator Bowl.

January 2 will serve as the second all-time matchup between Florida and Ohio State. The first came in the BCS National Championship Game on January 8, 2007 in Glendale, Ariz. The 41-14 gave Florida its second national championship in program history.

Florida is 19-19 in bowls all-time and has a 6-2 record in the Gator Bowl. The most recent trip to the Jacksonville bowl game ended with a 27-10 win over NC State on December 31, 1992.
