Weis Heading to Kansas

Charlie Weis has accepted an offer to become the head coach at the University of Kansas. Weis was hired by Will Muschamp a year ago to be the offensive coordinator for Florida. The Gators struggled on offense this season, but Weis has a track record of offensive success at every stop along his coaching career.

Charlie Weis will be announced as the head coach of the Jayhawks in a press conference on Friday. Florida head coach Will Muschamp said at the Gator Bowl press conference Thursday that Weis informed him he would be taking the job a few hours before it was announced.

Florida ranked 102nd in the country in total offense under Weis, averaging 334.2 yards per game. The Gators ranked 72nd in the country at 25.6 points per game.

Weis came to Gainesville after serving one year as the offensive coordinator of the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2010-11 season.
