Incoming Gators Q&A: D.J. Humphries

The Gator Nation is growing and the 2012 recruiting class is coming together. A few of the commits will be enrolling early and will be on the Florida campus in January. took a few minutes to talk to incoming freshman D.J. Humphries, so you can get to know one of the new faces you'll see on Florida's offensive line.

Hometown: Charlotte, NC

Position: OL

Height: 6-6

Weight: 270

Q: What number do you want? Why?

A: I wore 75 in high school, but Chaz (Green) already has 75, so, I'll probably wear like 70 or something like that.

Q: Who are you planning on rooming with at Florida?

A: Me and Jessamen (Dunker) are going to room together.

Q: Are you guys friends?

A: Yeah, yeah me and him are real cool, we talk all the time.

Q: Who inspires you?

A: My mom and my dad.

Q: What are you going to major in?

A: Business and Entrepreneurship.

Q: What are you most excited about about coming to Florida?

A: Getting on campus and enjoying that experience.

Q: What's your favorite football memory?

A: I don't know if I have a favorite one.

Q: Top five?

A: Top five probably when we played Chester (High School) my junior year, and we ran the same play behind me like four or five times in a row, and we scored like three times.

Q: What's your most embarrassing moment on the field?

A: Probably jumping offsides.

Q: How did you get started playing football?

A: My pops, my pops played football, and I lived with my grandma and my uncle, he was going through high school when I was going through elementary school and middle school, so he played football and I would always go to his practices and stuff, and I just wanted to play since then.

Q: Was there a moment when you realized that you were really good and you wanted to pursue it seriously?

A: Probably my tenth grade year, after that first jamboree, I went against a D1 kid, and I didn't know before the game that he was supposed to be D1, and so at that game I shut him down and I was like, ‘man, maybe I can do this for real.'

Q: If you could have one super power, what would it be and why?

A: Time travel. So I mess up on the field I can just go back in time, go back in time and keep my hands up or something.

Q: What's your favorite thing to do when you're not playing football?

A: Just chill with my friends, hanging out with females and stuff, that's how we do.

Q: If you could share the field with any athlete past or present, who would it be?

A: Hm…anybody who's ever played the game…probably Tebow.

Q: What's your favorite movie?

A: Life.

Q: What's the most played song on your ipod?

A: Probably KO by 2 Chainz.

Q: What's your favorite pre-game ritual?

A: Listening to my pod, sitting my myself, getting in the zone, listening to my ipod.

Q: What's something about you that surprises people?

A: I don't like cameras. I don't like being the limelight, I just want to play football. I don't really like all the cameras and microphones in my face and stuff.

Q: How would you like to be remembered?

A: As one of the best to ever do it.

Q: What are 3 things you can't live without?

A: Probably food, my phone, and probably my pod, my ipod.

A: I think you got it all.
