It is no secret that Florida has a big need at running back an getting Matt Jones early in the process was a huge deal. The Seffner Armwood running back has the size (6-3, 230) and the skill to be a premiere back in the SEC and the Gators have made him a priority. Jones, a man of few words, briefly shared his thoughts on his last visit to Gainesville as a prospect before signing up officially.
He had an injury plagued senior season, but the Gators stuck by him and are happy they did. Matt Jones
has a unique skill set for a big running back, showing great speed and agility when he runs. His team plays at the highest level of high school football in the state and he played tough through this injured senior season.
This weekend he was hosted by the Gators but for sure he was also a host himself as the Gators brought in several high profile prospects that needed to be convinced to be Gators themselves. After the weekend, Jones said he enjoyed the trip in his few words.
"All I can say is it was great," he said. "I'm ready to go."
Jones committed back in February and before a rough season for the Gators. Through it all, he has remained true and is excited to wear the orange and blue.
"I love the staff, it's the best," he said. "I love the fans. I am so happy to be a Gator."
