Adams Thrilled to be a Gator

Junior Day was a huge day for the Gators as they picked up six new verbal commitments for the class of 2013. Rodney Adams became the first wide receiver in the class after giving his pledge to the Gators. 6-foot-1, 190 pound receiver from Lakewood (St. Petersburg, FL) will join his close friend and high school teammate Dante Fowler Jr., who signed with the Gators on signing day 2012.

Though Rodney Adams and Dante Fowler have a close friendship, Adams says Fowlers decision to switch from his previous commitment to Florida State to Florida had nothing to do with Adams' own decision. In fact, Adams decided to commit to Florida about three weeks before signing day, before Fowler had even made up his mind.

"His decision didn't have an impact on mine, at that time Dante was still with Florida State, and I was like, ‘no I'm going to stick with Florida.' I think I impacted him to go to Florida," Adams said.

"I'm really excited, having a teammate from my hometown, somebody that I actually know. It's really exciting."

Adams had a great day in Gainesville and got to spend some more time with his future coaches. He was very excited to come to town and make the commitment official to the coaches in person.

"They were like really excited, like, oh my gosh, very excited, it was a great amount of energy in (Coach Muschamp's) office," Adams said.

"It was amazing, it was like I'm actually a part of a college family now, I'm going to be a part of the University of Florida Gators. It was real exciting."

"It felt like home down there, like a family. They have a great tradition, a great football team."

Adams is excited for his future in orange and blue. The speedy receiver can't wait to help get the Gators back to BCS dominance.

"I'm a hard working player, a player that will never quit, going to help them win a national championship."

With the speed and athleticism Adams possesses, he'll certainly be a big contributor for Florida in the future.

"I can make an impact down the field, I have great hands, great speed," he said.

"I'm going to help win a national championship."
