Ball Says He's Back

Florida's linebacker depth got a boost on Thursday. The Gators found out that Neiron Ball has been cleared to return to the team and play this fall. Ball missed the entire 2011 season after a blood vessel burst in his brain on February 15, 2011. Ball, who was diagnosed with a congenital vascular condition, said on Facebook that he has been cleared to return to the team.

The setback last year put doubt around whether or not Neiron Ball would ever play football again. He was almost immediately ruled out for the 2011 season. At his press conference on National Signing Day, Florida head coach Will Muschamp said they would find out Ball's status in the time before spring practice.

Ball, who rejoins the team as a redshirt sophomore this spring, was a key part of the kickoff coverage unit in 2010, as he played in all 13 games and recorded 10 tackles. His season-high of two came in the Outback Bowl win over Penn State.

The linebacker posted the following on his Facebook:

"Got GREAT news today!!!I am CLEARED TO PLAY FOOTBALL AGAINl!This is one of many God's Blessings....I am so thankful and excited!PRAISE GOD!"
