Bell is the Blue Print at Cornerback

The prototype cornerback these days is long, lean, and agile with the ability to play in the face of bigger receivers. These would be the specs for one of the country's best cornerback prospects Tre Bell of St. Peters Prep in Jersey City (NJ). Bell just picked up his 16th college scholarship offer from Notre Dame and is busy working hard as he continues to gain ground as a top prospect.

A do everything for his team, Tre Bell finished last season with three interceptions, 36 tackles, 2 forced fumbles and 10 pass break ups on defense to go along with 150 yards receiving on offense. Bell says his St. Pete Prep team is ready to make a move in 2012.

"We are working really hard and grinding every day to get to the state championship," he told FOX Sports Monday. "We lost in the second round of the playoffs a year ago."

Bell talked a little about what makes him the target of 16 scholarship offers already with some of the bigger names I the country at the top of the list.

"I am a long corner and that is a hot commodity right now," he said. "I have very good ball skills and can play on or off the ball. I compete and can run well. I can play safety, corner, or nickel, it doesn't really matter."

Notre Dame offered on Thursday and they keep pouring in. The Florida Gators are a big offer and have stayed on top of bell throughout the early part of this process. He has reciprocated their attention as well talking a lot to head coach Will Muschamp and secondary coach Travaris Robinson.

"Everything is going great and I have been talking to everybody," he said. "I talked to Florida (Sunday), talked to coach Muschamp. They like my competitiveness. They told my coach I compete so I take them at their word. I just go out there every play and play.

"Coach Robinson is recruiting me from there. He is a great guy and talks to my mother and father. I am really excited to get down there and meet up with him."

Bell says he will visit Florida for the spring football game in a month and has a couple of other visits lined up as well.

"I just want to take the visits and see," he said. "I am going to Florida April 7th, South Carolina on April 14th and the 21st I am going to West Virginia."

When it comes time to make a final decision, Bell says he has a few things he knows he will consider.

"First, I am going to look into academics and see if they have my major," he said. Second, will be the coaches. Third I am looking at the tradition of the school."

He also won't wait too long to decide and wants to move on to concentrate on his final high school season.

"It will definitely be before the season," he said. "It is something I want to do."
