One school leads for Rochell

Isaac Rochell has kept his options open for months, but after visiting a school outside his home state, he is ready to name a leader.

"Notre Dame is my leader now," Isaac Rochell said to Scout. "The visit there last Monday is when it all happened. I knew about the tradition, 'Rudy', and those type of things, but I learned a lot more when I was there."

Rochell watched a little bit of practice, then head coach Brian Kelly toured Rochell around the Notre Dame campus.

That is when his interest really increased in Notre Dame.

"They have great tradition and all that is known, but there is so much more that you do not know about unless you visit Notre Dame. I learned so much in so little time while I was there and I loved it."

The 6-foot-5, 255 pound lineman out of McDonough (GA) Eagles Landing Christian Academy talks about what stood out to him.

"I think the academics speak for themselves with Notre Dame. It is a first class education, so that stood out to me. I also like the religious part of Notre Dame. I am going to major or minor in Theology, so I like what they offer spiritually too."

"Overall, you just do not find schools that offer the total package that Notre Dame offers athletically, academically, and spiritually. Notre Dame just has a great overall package."

The Irish lead a group of schools that include Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Tennessee.

The four-star defensive end plans to narrow his list down officially in the near future.

He may slow things down a bit when talking time on the road here now though.

"I visited Georgia the weekend before I visited Notre Dame and I had a good trip there. I got to see what the college life would be like there and I liked it. Georgia is Georgia, so it is a great school.

"I may go to Clemson this weekend for their spring game, but I may not. I do not plan to take many more visits until my official visits. I was on the road a lot last summer, but I do not plan to be this year.

"I have seen a lot of schools, I am getting ready to cut my list down, and I have seen much I of what I have needed for now. I am just going to sit back, pray about it, and then decide on things."

Rochell does not plan to commit before taking at least some of his official visits at this time. He carries a 3.2 GPA and he already has a qualifying SAT score as well.

He could play defensive end or offensive tackle on the next level.
