Hearns Enjoys First Gator Game

The Florida Spring football game was the first Gator "gameday" atmosphere James Hearns has experienced. The Florida 2013 linebacker commit had only visited Gainesville before for some junior days, so he was excited to see many fans come out to support the team. Hears was supposed to visit last regular season when Florida hosted Alabama, but tore his ACL the day before and couldn't make the trip.

"It was real good, I haven't had a chance to actually see the atmosphere in a game-time situation like that before," James Hearns said.

"Even though it was only the Spring game they still had a really good turnout, so I can only imagine how good the games are, the atmosphere must be crazy."

Hearns was definitely excited by watching the Gator defense work and he sees himself fitting right in.

"The defense, they came out with intensity and emotion, playing at a high level. I saw some good things out of the linebackers even though Bostic didn't play, but I definitely see some opportunity at linebacker and I want to make an early impact when I get there."

There are already fifteen commitments in Florida's 2013 class, and what's unique about this class is how close they all are already. Hearns says it was great to spend some time with his future teammates at the game and excitement is building for the future.

"I was with Quinton Powell the whole time, I was with him, Dillan Lawson, and Kelvin Taylor," Hearns said.

"A lot of people don't really get to know each other until they get on campus, but we text each other all the time, not even just about football, but as friends just talking about stuff."

ACL Update

Hearns says: "It's real good, I've been going to physical therapy and all that stuff, I run a mile almost everyday, it doesn't bother me at all, it's just like I never even had the surgery."
