Ivie Excited About Trip to Florida

For now, Dade City (Fla.) Pasco defensive tackle Joey Ivie is approaching his recruitment with an open mind. However, the 6-foot-3, 250-pound lineman admits that a scholarship offer from his childhood favorite, the Florida Gators, would change everything. Since he hasn't been to Gainesville in a long time, Ivie is excited about getting a chance to visit the university in the near future.

"When I was younger I visited Gainesville a lot, but I have not been up there in years. I am coming up this Saturday though," Joey Ivie said.

Now that he will explore Florida's campus as a recruit for the first time, Ivie is excited about learning more about the football program.

"I'm really looking forward to seeing the school and meeting the coaches," he said.

Overall, the talented lineman is enjoying the recruiting process.

"Recruiting is going good. I'm working hard. I'm just taking some time and looking into schools that have offered," he said.

Right now, Ivie claims offers from UMass, Western Kentucky, Iowa State, FIU, Bowling Green, Purdue, Texas Tech, and Miami. At this point, the powerful lineman is taking the time to explore his options, but admits that he has a few schools that are standing out.

"If Florida offers then it will definitely be them, Purdue, Texas Tech, and Miami that stand out," he said.

For Ivie, his interest in Florida is not a recent development.

"I love their program and where it is located. A lot of my family graduated from Florida. I grew up a Gator fan," he confessed.

Although they have not offered, Florida has expressed interest in the defensive lineman.

"I talk to [Florida running back coach Brian White] here and there," he said.

With his visit to Gainesville quickly approaching, the long-time Florida fan will learn more about his chances of officially joining the Gator Nation.
