Lewis To Camp at UF

One of the most exciting prospects from the Sunshine State this upcoming season is Lamar Lewis from Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian Academy. Lewis, 5-8 and 175 pounds, plays running back and cornerback. Last season as a junior, he rushed the ball 162 times for roughly 1,800 yards and 27 touchdowns.

"I have great speed (4.45 forty) and quickness," Lewis said. "I also have vision, power and elusiveness. I prefer to juke someone than run them over. I have some moves. I also love the stiff arm. On defense, I am more of a zone cover guy. I love sitting in cover two. I have good fundamentals and I love to hit."

According to Lewis, he has scholarship offers from Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, Northwestern, Notre Dame and Tennessee. Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Arkansas, Virginia Tech and Ole Miss are showing a ton of interest as well.

"Right now, Georgia Tech is my leader. I camped there a few weeks ago and I have been there a few times. I did pretty well at the camp and I like their coaches and they treated me well up there. You can tell that they want me.

"I also like Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and Wake Forest. The main thing I am looking for is the coaching staffs, academics, facilities and support. As far as a position, I could play on both sides of the ball. To me, I just want to play. It doesn't matter to me."

Lewis carries a 3.3 grade point average. He will also camp at Florida in July.
