Miami Nike Camp: Top DB's

The Nike Training Camp stopped in Miami on Sunday and Scout was there for all the action. Lets take a look at the top defensive backs at the event.

MVP: Sojourn Shelton. At 5-foot-9 and 165 pounds, Shelton lacks ideal size for a major college cornerback but the Plantation High standout flat out shuts it down on his side of the field. He has great feet, loose hips, and tremendous overall cover skills. He was locking it down all afternoon at this event and it came as no surprise when the Florida State commitment was named the MVP by the coaches.

Top 2013 Prospect: Michael Johnson. At 5-foot-10 and 175 pounds, Johnson put his name on the recruiting map with a good junior season at Booker T. Washington. He played safety last season but showed off good cover skills and a lot of the things you look for in a major college prospect corner at this event. He could end up playing either position at Florida State, the school he's already committed to.

Sleeper: Rashard Robinson. At 6-foot-1 and 170 pounds, Robinson is long and uses those arms to his advantage. He covers a lot of ground at safety for Ely High but could end up playing cornerback in college. Florida State has already offered the standout defender, who plays a lot like Willie Bailey (Hallandale/Florida/Class of 2012).

Top Notable: Adrian Baker. At 6-foot-1 and 165 pounds, Bsker plays on both sides of the ball at Chaminade Madonna High. He plays both cornerback and safety and will likely up end up playing corner in college. He has quick feet, especially for his size, and uses his length to his advantage. He's also a plus athlete. Baker claims offers from schools like Florida, Florida State, N.C. State, West Virginia, Boston College, and more.
