2014 Lineman Martinez is Ready for Spring

As spring practice begins, many high school football prospects across the country are excitedly putting on their pads and heading to the practice field. For 2014 Tampa (Fla.) Tampa Catholic offensive tackle Corey Martinez, returning to the practice field is exactly what he has been waiting for. In his mind, the fact that he is hearing from college coaches is an added bonus.

"I'm very happy to start up our spring," Corey Martinez said.

In addition to focusing on practice, Martinez is also hearing from quite a few college football teams.

"Florida, FSU, Miami, Mississippi State, and UCLA are the schools that I'm hearing from right now," he said.

"Last week the Navy offensive line coach stopped by and today Ball State and Miami, who likes me a lot, were at practice," he added.

Right now, there are still some other schools that the talented lineman would like to communicate with more frequently.

"Those are definitely schools that I am considering but there are other schools out there that I hope to really hear from," he said of the schools that he is receiving interest from.

For Martinez, his summer plans include more than just trips to the beach.

"I'm attending FSU's camp, Florida's camp, USF's camp and a Miami camp," he said.

Since it is still early, the 6-foot-4, 290-pound lineman has not narrowed down his options yet.

"There isn't one school in particular that stands out to me," he said.

Although he is not close to making a decision, the sophomore offensive lineman has an idea of the factors that he will consider when he makes his choice.

"Education, environment and athletics are the things I will consider," he said.
