Its Official: Brewer is a Gator

Corey Brewer, a member of our Pre-Summer Top 50, reached his collegiate decision on Thursday evening. Brewer is headed to Florida.

Corey Brewer's secret is finally out of the bag. On Thursday evening, he called the staff at Florida and committed to play for the Gators. He had been considering UF and Tennessee.

"I liked their style of play and their players," Brewer said. "I like the way they play up and down the court. I liked their players and I knew I could play with them."

We like Brewer as one of the top defensive players in the Class of 2004. He's one of those guys that should make an even bigger national splash after the summer camp season.

The Gators used a former UF standout to measure Brewer by. "Basically, they compared me to Mike Miller and the way he plays. They've got to have some defenders, offense isn't everything. It means a lot and I bring [offense] too."

In picking Florida, that means he'll be leaving his home state. "It's real hard, leaving my mom and everybody important."

However, Brewer thinks he can win big in Gainesville. "I think we can get to the Final Four there but Tennessee might be able to get to also. I just feel that's the place for me."
