Holland Enjoys UF Camp; Back for FNL

Recruiting starts earlier and earlier for high school prospects and it isn't unusual to find high school sophomores with college scholarship offers these days. So is the case for class of 2015 athlete Jeffery Holland of Jacksonville Trinity Christian. Holland plays on both sides of the ball and has the body of a senior which attracts college coaches. He camped at Florida this week and liked it.

Jeffery Holland will play running back and linebacker for Trinity and at the Florida camp he worked out on defense. Before hand, he got to take his first tour of a college campus given by a football program.

"I walked around the campus and got a tour and liked it," he said of the sunny day he spent in Gainesville after arriving early in the morning. "I camped at linebacker mostly. They taught me that footwork is the key to playing linebacker. I have good instincts, but I need to have independent feet."

Holland got a lot out of the experience and took away good thoughts from a place that has a commitment from one his teammates in Nick Washington (class of 2013 safety).

"That was my first college camp and it was really eye opening," he said. "They coached us like they were coaching the Gators."

One coach Holland won't forget is Florida's new strength and conditioning coordinator, Jeff Dillman.

"The strength coach took us into the weight room," Holland said. "He taught us what they do with the lifting, showed us the facilities, showed us how to squat and stuff. He showed us how they get them bigger in the weight room. "He is crazy and I like that about him, He gets you pumped up."

He has a BCS offer from Georgia Tech and that is the only other camp he wanted to try and attend this summer. He hasn't been able to book those plans yet. However, he has been invited back to Gainesville in late July and will be here.

"I am going back to Friday Night Lights too," he said. "I will work at linebacker and maybe safety or receiver."
