Under the radar DE enjoys camp

This rising senior defensive end from Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School has flown a little bit under the radar. Earlier this month, he camped at Clemson.

DE Stedman Lucas Profile

Stedman Lucas recently spoke with CUTigers about that camp stop in Tigertown.

"I enjoyed it up there. The coaches, they showed a lot of love. I like the whole environment and campus and everything," he said.

Lucas also camped at Wake Forest and N.C. State.

The camp wasn't his first experience in Tigertown. Lucas has been in a couple of times for games. His older brother, Sterling Lucas, is a middle linebacker at N.C. State.

"When they played at Clemson, I've been twice, when N.C. State played them. This was the first time I visited for myself. Being around the coaches and all the facilities, that was my first time," the younger Lucas said.

He really enjoys Clemson on game day.

"They have great fans, a lot of support. I just like the whole environment at Clemson since I was little," Lucas said.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound outside linebacker would like to be a part of that Orangeburg-Wilkinson to Clemson tradition. One of his coaches is former Clemson wide receiver Jackie Robinson. Teammate Jadar Johnson is committed to the Tigers.

Clemson is evaluating Lucas as a defensive end. Other schools, like N.C. State, Wake Forest and ECU are looking at him as an outside linebacker.

As a junior, Lucas had 70 tackles and four sacks.
