Floyd Named to Walter Camp Award Watch List

HOOVER, Ala. – The preseason awards continued to roll in for defensive lineman Sharrif Floyd on Friday. The junior was named to the watch list for the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, given to the foundation's player of the year at any position.

The foundation released its list of the top 50 players in the country on Friday morning.

It's nothing new for Sharrif Floyd. The junior has been raking in the awards since they started to be released this preseason. Floyd is also named to the watch lists for the Bednarik Award, Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Outland Trophy and Rotary Lombardi.

Floyd was also selected as a third team defense All-SEC preseason selection by the media and a second team defense All-SEC preseason selection by the coaches.

Floyd started the final 11 games of the 2011 season for Florida. He had 46 tackles with 6.5 tackles for a loss. He led the team with four quarterback hurries. He spent most of the season playing defensive end, but after he slid inside to his natural position of defensive tackle in the Gator Bowl win over Ohio State, Floyd had one pass breakup, one blocked kick and his first career sack.

He has 69 tackles and 13 tackles for a loss in his two-year career in Gainesville.
