"I actually have (seen improvements), and a lot of people are telling me. That's a great accomplishment, I just have more work to do though," Powell said.
"They've been saying that I'm showing I'm rangy, I'm long, I have the ability to play in space, and at the end of the day I went to camps to prove everybody wrong."
Powell has kept busy with his high school 7on7s and was also able to compete at The Opening in Oregon earlier this month.
"It was great, there were a lot of athletes out there, the best of the best, and I felt like I did pretty well," he said.
Powell won't be making it to Friday Night Lights at his future school because he'll be competing in Gridiron Kings in Orlando Saturday and Sunday. He's also been using all of the events this summer as opportunities to do a little recruiting for the Gators.
"Marcell Harris is a big question mark, he never tells anybody, but I pray to God he picks Florida," Powell said.
"I talked to Vernon (Hargreaves), I've seen that stuff on Twitter about Florida being his first school, so I actually think that he might pick Florida, and I think that would be a great person to add on to our class."
