UF Friday Night Lights: Top Performers

The last Friday in July in recent years has been the day many talented prospects gather in Gainesville, Fla. for Friday Night Lights. It happened again Friday night and Scout names their Top Performers here.

Florida had some top talent at The Swamp Friday night and here are Scout's Top Performers:

Alex Anzalone | OLB | 6-3/220 | Wyomissing (PA) | 2013

FNL Notes: This Notre Dame commitments was the top linebacker at this event. He really moved well in space, he looked great during agility drills, and he showed a lot of natural athleticism. Anzalone has the ability and size to play outside or inside linebacker on the next level. He could excel at either position.

George Campbell | WR | 6-4/181 | Tarpon Springs (FL) | 2015

FNL Notes: It is easy to see why schools like Vanderbilt, South Florida, and UCF have already offered this sophomore athlete. Campbell is very fluid for his size, he catches the ball well away from his body, and he has a lot of upside. He could become a big wide receiver or grow into a very athletic tight end. Expect to hear a lot about him in the coming years.

Tyler Harris | QB | 6-4/210 | Pierce County (GA) | 2014

FNL Notes: Harris showed again what he is known best for early, a strong arm. The ball comes out of his hand hot and he also showed some touch on the ball Friday night. He is still awaiting offer no. one, but that should come early this fall if not sooner. He has the make up to be one of the best in his region at his position.

Akeem Jones | QB | 6-3/200 | Carol City (FL) | 2013

FNL Notes: Jones has really improved as a quarterback over the past year, but he showed more than nice touch and good spin at UF. He showed a lot of leadership and he was one of the more impressive athletes during the agility drills at the first of the camp. Jones claims a UF offer now as an athlete and that would not be a surprise after seeing him Friday night.

Mardre London | RB | 6-1/200 | St. Thomas Aquinas (FL) | 2014

Quick Hitter: London may not have been the quickest back out of the backfield or the most shifty back at The Swamp, but at his size, he may have been the most impressive back working out. He is a big back, but he showed good feet and nice lateral movement to go with his soft hands out of the backfield. No offers yet, but they will come.

Daniel McMillan | MLB | 6-2/220 | First Coast (FL) | 2013

FNL Notes: McMillan was one of the few Florida commitments to work out Friday night and he was competing at a high level. A couple of times he got turned around the wrong way or was a little aggressive coming up to cover a running back or tight end, but for the most part, he was very impressive. He was pretty fluid in coverage, he stayed with some quick running backs down the field, and he looked more comfortable in coverage than he has in the past.

Joshua Outlaw | OG | 6-4/265 | M.L.K. (GA) | 2013

FNL Notes: Outlaw showed again Friday night why schools went after him before he committed to Florida, his great feet. He moves very well, he plays light on his feet, and as he builds onto his frame and adds strength, he is only going to get better. He has the ability to play tackle or guard, but once his body reaches it's full potential, Scout likes him as an interior offensive lineman.

Max Staver | QB | 6-5/235 | Brentwood Academy (TN) | 2013

FNL Notes: It is all starting to come together for Staver - He is in the best shape of his life, he has worked hard to get stronger, he is throwing with a lot more zip on the ball, and he is playing with a lot more confidence. He hooked up with Florida commitment Marqui Hawkins on some deep and intermediate routes and he had a strong showing. He has a short delivery for a QB with his size and he threw some tight spirals much of the night.

Chad Thomas | DE | 6-5/240 | Booker T. Washington (FL) | 2014

FNL Notes: Thomas drew a lot of attention from Will Muschamp Friday night and he will be one of the top defensive prospects in the Sunshine State next year. He has great size, he is very athletic, and he will likely be a defensive lineman that can play inside or outside on the next level. Scout projects him as a strongside defensive end right now.

Chris Thompson | WR | 6-0/170 | Gainesville (FL) | 2013

FNL Notes: Thompson has been a regular at Friday Night Lights over the past few years and he had a very strong performance this year. He was working out to earn an offer and he had to give the UF coaches a lot to think about. He showed good quickness off the ball, he caught the ball well, and he has a lot of ability after he makes the catch.

Others that were considered: Nadir Barnwell, Janarion Grant, Marqui Hawkins, Sandley Jean-Felix, Shamar Johnson, Isaiah Wynn, Juwon Young.
