Florida QB had busy summer

Troy Cook is a talented quarterback prospect from Miami Southridge High and Scout caught up with him to discuss the latest.

Troy Cook put his name on the recruiting map as a junior last season by throwing for 1,147 yards and 10 touchdowns. He added 473 yards rushing as well. Now he's enjoying the recruiting process and recapped a busy summer.

"I've been to N.C. State, Duke, Maryland, FIU, and FAU," Cook said. "And I got an offer from Western Michigan."

Cook, 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, talked more about his camp experiences.

"I really enjoyed all of them," he said. "Duke had the best campus in my opinion. N.C. State has a great school and stadium. Maryland had a very good coaching staff with a lot of expierence. FIU showed me a lot of love at the camp and FAU is a great up and coming team."

Cook has a few schools that jump out ahead of the rest at this point in the recruiting process.

"I'd say I have a top five of Western Michigan, Duke, N.C. State, FIU, and FAU," he said. "I also really like TCU and Arizona State but I haven't been getting as much interest from those schools."

As a Prospect: Cook was one of the top junior quarterbacks in Miami-Dade County this past season. He posted solid numbers and showed off some athleticism to be able to make a lot of plays with his feet. He's a dual-threat quarterback because of it. He also takes good care of the football and has the size that will have college programs interested. He's a Division 1 quarterback prospect heading into the season and will be one to watch.
