"This ranking is a credit to the players and how hard each of them worked during their high school careers and it also recognizes the outstanding effort of our coaching staff during the recruiting process," Kevin O'Sullivan said. "These players have performed at a high level and we are counting on them contributing right away for us.
"The state of Florida in particular possessed a wealth of talent and we were fortunate to have many of these student-athletes come to the University of Florida."
The Gators bring in plenty of pitchers, including RHP Jason Carmichael, LHP Parker Danciu, RHP Mike Vinson, RHP Tucker Simpson and RHP Eric Hanhold. The key bats include shortstop Richie Martin, outfielder Christian Dicks, catcher Kevin Stypulkowski, outfielder Harrison Bader and corner infielder Brady Roberson.
The class also includes utility player Taylor Ratliff, a transfer from Jacksonville. Ratliff hit .330 with a .422 on-base percentage, 58 runs scored and 25 stolen bases during his freshman season in 2011. He hit .281 in 31 games during an injury-riddled campaign in 2012.
Florida opens fall practice on October 7. The 2013 season opens when the Gators host Duke on February 15.
