Florida @ Vandy Game Day Headquarters

The University of Florida football program squares off against Vanderbilt and the Gators are looking to extend a 21 game winning streak against the Commodores along with their season long five game undefeated streak. There are several things the Gators need to do to win the game in Nashville and we will touch on those and you'll also find the rest of our content on the upcoming game from the week.

What: #4 Florida (5-0, 4-0 in SEC) @ Vanderbilt (2-3, 1-2)
When: Sat. Oct. 13; 6 p.m. Eastern (ESPNU)

The preseason #23 ranked Gators are looking to continue to keep on keeping on in a season that has probably been better than expected so far. A suffocating defense finally had a complete game a week ago while the offense is a work in progress, yet seems to find a different answer to winning every week.

Vanderbilt is coming off a good road win against new SEC member Missouri, but isn't off to the start they had hoped. They took #3 South Carolina to the wire in week one, but a week later lost to Northwestern at the Wildcats place. One of their two wins is over non FBS Presbyterian. What will it take for Florida to win?

Run the ball… Florida is third in the SEC in rushing offense at just under 215 yards per game. Senior running back Mike Gillislee is leading the SEC in rushing and coming off the best game of his career against a stout rush defense in LSU.

Vanderbilt is 11th in the SEC in rushing defense which plays right into the hands of the Gators. It should be an overall physical mismatch for Florida up front when the gators get the ball.

Contain Rodgers… Vandy quarterback Jordan Rodgers can present a headache for the Gators with his ability to run the ball. He has struggled with his accuracy this year and is 12th in the conference in passing efficiency having thrown only two touchdowns and two interceptions on the year. He is completing just 55% of his pass attempts. Therefore it is important to force him to stay in the pocket and contain him and not allow him to get yards and first downs with his feet. He has 456 net rushing yards in his career.

Win the turnover battle… Florida has been pretty good this year in regards to turnovers. The Gators have taken the ball away 10 times and coughed it up just four. Vanderbilt is dead even having taken and given the ball away five times each.

Florida knows very well, when they win the turnover battle, they usually win the game and it was a big area of concern a year ago when they lost six games during the season.
