Gators in the NFL: Week Six

Cornerback Joe Haden returned from his four-game suspension with a bang on Sunday. There were 21 former Florida players that were active and 14 of them started for their respective teams.

Cleveland Browns cornerback Joe Haden returned from a four-game suspension and made a big impact. He started at corner and made seven tackles, three pass deflections and had an interception return for 14 yards.

Percy Harvin continued his strong season at receiver for the Minnesota Vikings. He had 11 receptions for 133 yards. Harvin added three kickoff returns for 100 yards with a long of 45.

The trio former Gators returned to the New England Patriots as Aaron Hernandez was back from an ankle injury. He had six receptions for 30 yards and a touchdown—the only touchdown scored by a former Florida player in the NFL. Brandon Spikes started at linebacker and recorded five tackles, including two for a loss. He also had a quarterback hit. Jermaine Cunningham started at defensive end and made two tackles.

Reggie Nelson started at free safety for the Cincinnati Bengals and tied for the team lead with nine tackles, adding one tackle for a loss and a forced fumble. Defensive end Carlos Dunlap made two tackles, one quarterback hit and recorded one interception.

Tim Tebow threw one pass for 23 yards and added four rushes for seven yards for the New York Jets.

Riley Cooper was active for the first time this season and made two catches for 18 yards.

Atlanta Falcons linebacker Mike Peterson started at outside linebacker and made one tackle.

Mike Pouncey started at center for the Miami Dolphins. The Pittsburgh Steelers started three former Florida players on their offensive line—Marcus Gilbert (right tackle), Maurkice Pouncey (center), Max Starks (left tackle). Maurice Hurt saw time at guard and tackle for the Washington Redskins.

Chris Rainey made one catch for 12 yards for the Steelers. He added a punt return for seven yards and three kick returns for 97 yards.

Played but no stats: Denver Broncos wide receiver Andre Caldwell, Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Brandon Siler, San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Ray McDonald, Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Ahmad Black.
