S Dylan Sumner-Gardner Profile
The three-star prospect, who is in the midst of his junior season at West Mesquite High School, has recorded 40 tackles, five pass breakups and forced three fumbles. He also has one interception.
Sumner-Gardner was limited early on this season.
"I went down with a knee injury. I was out for two or three games," Sumner-Gardner said in a recent interview with CUTigers. "But I'm good now."
While his current team is rolling right along with a 7-2 record, his future team, Clemson, is doing just as well at 8-1.
"They're doing well," Sumner-Gardner said. "They're dominating every week. They're good."
He keeps in touch with several Clemson coaches, including defensive backs coach Charlie Harbison and defensive coordinator Brent Venables.
"Coach Cheese and I talk about the defense and how I'm playing and how he can't wait for me to get to Clemson," Sumner-Gardner said.
With Venables, "He talks to me about the things I see with the defense, if there's anything that I think needs to be improved."
Sumner-Gardner hasn't been back to Clemson since his camp visit earlier this summer.
When might he return to Tigertown?
"I think it's going to be in the summer, because we're in the middle of a playoff run right now."
Since his June commitment to Clemson, a few other schools have been in contact, including Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Texas A&M, Oregon, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and West Virginia. But he doesn't know of any new offers since the Clemson pledge.
