Fedora is in his first season with North Carolina and lead them to an 8-4 season and a first-place finish in the ACC Coastal Division. The definition of an up-and-comer he launched himself into a job with UNC after coaching Southern Miss to a Conference USA Title and a 12-2 record in 2011. He currently has the Tarheels ranked No. 22 in recruiting in the 2014 class according to FOX Sports NEXT.

Golden currently in his second season at Miami is a name that has surfaced via some back channels. Prior to Miami, the former Penn State graduate, guided Temple to a 5-7 mark, the team's most wins most since 1990, and a second-place finish in the MAC East in his third season.

Hugh Freeze

Freeze got his start at Briarcrest Christian School in Memphis, Tenn. He was depicted in the motion picture the Blindside and coached now NFL offensive tackle Michael Oher. From Briarcrest, Freeze was hired on at Ole Miss under head coach Ed Oregeron. Since he has severed at the interim head coach there and spent time at Lambuth University and Arkansas State before being brought back to Ole Miss as a head coach. His record speaks for itself at 36-13.

Morris has the head coaching experience without the SEC knowledge. Having spend most of his time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Morris has spent very little time in the college ranks. One thing that is a concern about Morris is the head coaching record at 17-31. However, he did generate the biggest turnaround in Bucs history going from 3-13 in 2009 to 10-6 in 2010.

Kirby Smart may not have been a candidate when this coaching search started given athletics director Dave Hart's statements about head coaching experience, but that was before Tennessee missed out on names like Jon Gruden, Mike Gundy and Charlie Strong. Smart fits almost every other category Hart described, especially SEC knowledge having coached and played at Georgia with a coaching stop at LSU as well. Currently, Smart make just shy of $1 million at Alabama.

Tommy Tuberville

In his 17th season, Tuberville boasts a career record of 130-76, including a 20-16 mark at Texas Tech, with SEC experience at both Auburn and Ole Miss. The 2004 Auburn team that defeated Tennessee in the SEC championship was his best. That was the first SEC crown for Auburn since 1989 and it went on to beat Virginia Tech 16-13 in the NOKIA Sugar Bowl.

Roman is in his 15th year as an NFL coach having spent time with the 49ers, Carolina Panthers, Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans. He was also a part of Jim Harbaugh's staff at Stanford from 2009-2010. During his time at Stanford, he mentored two Heisman runner-up candidates in QB Andrew Luck (2010) and RB Toby Gerhart. Over those two seasons, the Cardinal allowed a total of 13 sacks on offense, which marked the fewest over that time span in the nation. (2009).

Todd Grantham

Grantham is in his third season as the defensive coordinator at Georgia having cut his teeth in the NFL with teams like the Indianapolis Colts and the Cleveland Browns. He is a believer in the 3-4 defense, which is what Sal Sunseri ran in 2012. Georgia's defense under Grantham finished the 2011 season ranked 3rd nationally in total defense.

Patterson has spent the last 12 seasons at Texas Christian University and has a combined record of 115-34. Prior to accepting the head coaching position he was a defensive coordinator at New Mexico and TCU. He has led the Horned Frogs to BCS Bowls two times (Fiesta 2009, Rose 2010). He was a safety and a linebacker at Kansas State from 1980-81.
