McCrary decommits from FSU

Jacob McCrary committed to the Seminoles back in July, but now the 2014 wide receiver has decided to open things back up. The Coral Reef (Miami, FL) standout says Florida State is not out of the picture, but he'll be taking a look at several other schools too. Get the latest on McCrary right here.

Jacob McCrary says he called Florida State Offensive Coordinator James Coley Thursday night to tell him he was decommitting from FSU. When McCrary couldn't get Coley by phone, he tried email.

"I emailed Coach (James) Coley last night. Earlier today he responded and asked me how I was doing and if I decommitted. I told him yes and gave him the reason why," McCrary said.

The 6-foot, 175-pound wide receiver said he just wasn't building the bond he wanted with the FSU coaching staff.

"It was just lack of communication, I haven't spoken to Florida State in over two months," he said.

I don't want to make it sound like I'm a selfish person, but in order for you to recruit a player, you'd want to get a great bond with that person and keep that bond going. I understand they have to prepare for games and stuff like that, but the communication wasn't there."

McCrary said he has been building that bond with coaches at other programs.

"Right now, it's been Clemson, Notre Dame, and Florida that I speak to very often," he said.

"I have a top five, there's no order. Florida State is still in it, with Clemson, Florida, Notre Dame, and Ole Miss."

McCrary is hoping to visit Florida State for the Florida game on November 24th, and Clemson in January for junior day. He doesn't expect to make any decisions any time soon.

"I'm going to take things a little slower and really try to get that bond with all the coaches that are recruiting me and find out what's best for me," he said.

"I was thinking maybe (I'll decide) around January of my senior year."
