"I feel like we did okay this season, but we could have done better," said Putman of his junior campaign. "I know next year we're going to go out there and do our thing.
"I feel like I played pretty good this year, but I am going to work even harder to get ready for next year."
Putman recently traded in his football cleats for a pair of high tops as part of the DeSoto Central basketball team.
Football appears to be the 6-5, 253 pounder's ticket to the next level.
"They play in a good conference and it's not too far from home.
The 6A standout reports that he is eager to learn more about his options and the recruiting process.
As things stand now, Putman has a good idea about the type of program he wants to be a part of on the next level.
"I want to go somewhere that takes care of their players," said Putman. "I want to have good coaches and good academics.
"I want to be part of a good team and get my education."
