Coley commit a fake

Around midnight last night there appeared to be a commitment via Twitter from Stacy Coley, the nation's No. 8 ranked receiver. But according to his high school coach it was false. Coley is open and very close to setting up all his official visits.

One of the most coveted wide receivers in the class of 2013 is Stacy Coley (Oakland Park, Fla./Northeast). For a brief moment late last night it appeared that Coley had made his commitment. Via twitter he stated that he just got off the phone with Jimbo Fisher and committed to Florida State. A few minutes later the tweet disappeared.

"It was fake," said Donnell Bennett, Northeast's head coach. "Someone has created a fake account on Twitter and Facebook with Stacy. He has not committed to anyone. All of that is false."

According to Bennett Coley is in the midst of visiting with coaches. He has still yet to set up one official visit and it sounds as if he could take all five trips over the next eight or so weeks before national signing day.

"We have a ton of coaches coming in here between now and next week," Bennett said. "There are a couple coming in tomorrow and a bunch next week. Stacy will start setting them up sometime late next week.

"Florida State, Miami, Florida, Clemson, Texas Tech, and Ole Miss are some of the schools he's still considering."

Coley, 6-foot-1 and 175-pounds, is a four-star recruit and the nation's No. 8 ranked wide receiver. He also plays cornerback and free safety. Coley nabbed seven interceptions this season.

"I don't know his offensive numbers but I can tell you that Stacy was tremendous," Bennett said. "He played terrific on both sides of the ball and on special teams. Stacy is a great leader for us. This is a very mature kid who grew up a lot between last year and this season."
