Talent On Display

Wednesday plenty of Chicagoland talent was on display at the annual Tom Lemming/NCSA all-area banquet. Check out the highlights of the event inside.

It's early December and one thing has become quite a staple -- the Tom Lemming/NCSA all-area banquet.

Plenty of awards were handed out and some of Chicagoland's top talent was represented.

First, Michigan head coach Brady Hoke took the podium to deliver an inspirational speech to the athletes on hand, including such words of wisdom as why he coaches in the first place.

"I have a chance to help mold young men," Hoke simply said.

And also how to set yourself apart, and become a championship team.

"Championship people and teams go through life being respectful, accountable and trusting those they are with," Hoke said.

Shortly after, the coach of the year was awarded to Jerry Verde, after leading Crete-Monee to a perfect 14-0 record and the 6A State Title.

And finally, the Johnny Lattner athlete of the year award went to Laquon Treadwell -- who remains uncommitted but is seemingly drawing closer to a school of his choice. The award was presented by Lattner himself.

It wasn't just Crete-Monee that was honored though, plenty of up and coming talent took the stage Wednesday night.
