The Book on Delano Hill

Michigan added a commitment from Delano Hill, a four-star safety who was committed to Iowa today. Here is a look at what he brings to the table.

Delano Hill profile

His Background:

We saw Hill as a freshman back at the Sound Mind, Sound Body Camp, and he was playing quarterback and he was over at Inkster at the time. After transferring to Cass Tech, he started to make his name as a junior, when he had a good season starting at safety for the Technicians. He picked up his first offer from Syracuse shortly after the season, and from there, a few more came in. He committed to Iowa in the spring, and had a good showing at The Opening in Oregon, running a 4.44 forty.

On the Corner? Hill is listed as a safety and has played safety, but has shown some man to man ability at camps. It's possible he could be looked at as a boundary corner in college, and Michigan may look at him there. If that doesn't work out, he can always play his natural position of safety, but his versatility is obviously a positive.

Tackling: One of his strengths is that he is a very sure tackler. He plays under control, has good technique, and I've rarely seen him miss tackles or take bad angles.

Bottom Line: Good size, good speed, and a good skill set. Hill is a great pickup for Michigan, as he brings a little size into this secondary class. He should be a great special teamer as well.
