Grier is a Gator

One of the most prolific high school quarterbacks for the 2014 class has ended speculation and announced his college decision. Moments ago the nations 6th ranked signal caller jumped on board with the Florida Gators.

Will Grier is the National record holder for most passing yards in a game with 837 set earlier this year in a 104-80 win over Harrells Christian. He tied the record for most passing touchdowns in a game with 10. Grier checks in at 6'3 185-pounds from Davidson (NC) Davidson Day High School.

Trimming his list to a top five of Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, North Carolina State and Oregon it was time to make the final cut today. Grier is the third member of the Florida 2014 recruiting class joining wide receiver Ryeshene Bronson and defensive tackle Trevonte Valentine.

This is a very big addition for the Gators and offensive coordinator Brent Pease. Grier is a top flight national quarterback and welcomes the challenge of selling his program and recruiting other top flight players with him. Not since Trey Burton have Florida fans had a recruit that appears to be willing in this department.

National Recruiting Analyst Chad Simmons talked about Will Grier.

Grier is a quarterback with a lot to like as an analyst. He has good size, he has a high release point, he is very mobile in the pocket, he has a strong arm, and he is a natural leader. He is one of those kids that has a lot of natural ability, so when you combine that with his work ethic, his understanding of the game, his demeanor on the field, and his room to grow as a player, you have one of the best in his class.

Atlantic Recruiting Analyst Michael Clark also had a chance to watch Grier work in person.

The Davidson Day star has high football I.Q. and is very poised in the pocket. He also does a nice job of reading defenses and is extremely accurate. On top of being a great passer, Grier is very athletic. Although he would rather beat you with his arm, the junior signal-caller also runs well. Grier is a quarterback that makes everyone around him better. Overall, he is a big-time prospect that has chance to become a special player for the Gators.
