UA Preview: Top Regional Storylines

Scout keys on which top storyline from each region the analysts will be focusing on at the UnderArmour All-America Game in Orlando... recruiting analysts will be in Orlando all week for the UnderArmour All-America Game practices. Leading up to the UA Game, a gathering of 80 of the top prospects from all across the country, they are focusing on some of the key things to watch in the weeklong practices.

  1. What is the Top Storyline from your region that you're looking forward to watching unfold in Orlando?
Cooper Bateman
Brandon Huffman (National Recruiting Analyst, West): Cooper Bateman- can he bounce back?  Bateman had a good showing at The Opening, but had a slow start.  He didn't have a great senior season, but the future Alabama signal-caller will get an other chance to show what he can do on a big stage.  He's the #2 quarterback in the West, behind Max Browne, but how firm is his hold on that spot nationally?

Montravius Adams
Chad Simmons (National Recruiting Analyst, South): Robert Nkemdiche vs. Montravius Adams. Who is the best? Who has more upside? Who is more dominant in this event? Nkemdiche is the top prospect in the country entering this event, so will he stay that? Adams is an elite defensive lineman and with me living in Georgia like these two young men, I hear a lot about each being better than the other. They will have a lot of eyes on them at each practice and it is something I am ready to watch.

Jalin Marshall
Bill Greene (Ohio Recruiting Analyst): One of the top storylines in the Midwest will be the play of Ohio State commit Jalin Marshall, who is ranked as a five-star prospect.  Marshall has been a triple-option quarterback throughout his high school career, but will play exclusively at receiver at UnderArmour.  Since this will more than likely be Marshall's position at Ohio State, it will be interesting to see how he stacks up against the highly-rated defensive backs on the team.

Laremy Tunsil
Geoff Vogt (Florida): The state of Florida is known for the skill positions, but this game has the three top offensive linemen in the state in Laremy Tunsil, Denver Kirkland, and Ira Denson. Is Tunsil truly the franchise left tackle? Can Kirland play OT or does he have to move inside? Denson backed up his strong camp performances with his play this year, but that was against 3A competition, how will he do against the nations best defensive tackle's? How do these three compare with some of the best from around the country?

Kelvin Taylor
Jason Higdon (Florida): With seven current Florida Gator commitments set for Orlando the biggest story line in my mind is what goes on behind closed doors. As we have witnessed over the past several years when a group of commitments come in with targets in mind they are hard to turn down. With as many as 12 uncommitted prospects on the Florida big board this year's group of Gators has its work cut out for them.

Reuben Foster
John Garcia Jr (Alabama): Heightened this time around because of the national championship game with one school and the coaching change at the other, the Alabama and Auburn commits and potential signees represent a big portion of each roster. Interestingly, all six current Alabama commits are on the Team Highlight roster while all three Auburn pledges are all on Team Nitro's roster. Several undeclared prospects are heavily considering each of the last two national champions as well, led by former UA and AU commit Reuben Foster. Seeing how the intrasquad recruiting progresses throughout the week between practices and off-field time may shape how the recruiting rivalry ends up come February 6.

Robert Nkemdiche
Yancy Porter (Mississippi): What will Robert Nkemdiche do at the Under Armour event? No, we are not talking how he will fare on the field. We all know abut his skills. The bigger question is will he go ahead and make a commitment at the Under Armour event, or will he wait it out to near signing day or on signing day to make his decision pubic? Robert said from the start that he would be a signing day decision but then hedged a few times lately and said it could come sooner. Now he is saying it is back to signing day. The speculation grows and the fans at Ole Miss, LSU, and Alabama will be keeping a close eye on this development throughout the week of the Under Armour event.

Reuben Foster
Amy Campbell (Florida): There's been PLENTY of debate about who is truly the best in this class - Robert Nkemdiche or Reuben Foster. Well, I can't wait to see them both in person for the first time AND on the same field. It seems like a fitting last hurrah before Signing Day.
