"The season is going pretty well," Vaughn told Scout.com. "The season is coming along well. The team is pretty young, but we are really coming along well. I'm playing good and being more of a leader for my team."
"I think I'm playing well," he added. "I'm scoring the ball well. I'm playing defense well. I'm passing pretty well too."
Vaughn, a 6-foot-5 wing, has had a season high of 51 points and recently went for 35 points in a loss to Tyus Jones' team in the Timberwolves Shootout.
"If I want to break out more and move up in the rankings, I believe I have to turn it up a notch," Vaughn told Scout.com.
What does Vaughn do the best?
"I can shoot," Vaughn said. "I can score anyway possible. I get up and down the floor. I can lock up people and really just do it all, but really just scoring the ball."
Vaughn has had a host of high major schools tracking him during his junior campaign. He said Baylor, Kansas, North Carolina, Syracuse, Iowa State, Maryland, Kentucky, Louisville and Florida are recruiting him the hardest.
"The recruiting process is going good," Vaughn said. "No favorites right now. I was thinking about narrowing my list, but I don't know when the exact date will be, but recruiting is going well."
Vaughn took in a Minnesota game last weekend and had hoped to visit Louisville the weekend before, but he had a schedule conflict.
"I was going to go down to the Louisville/Kentucky game, but we had a game before that and weren't going to be able to catch the plane."
Vaughn said Louisville is among the schools that have picked up their recruitment of him.
"Coach Pitino and their assistant coach came down to the school and they liked me," Vaughn said. "They said I could do well in their style of play."
North Carolina's Roy Williams also watched Vaughn recently. Vaughn said he's still building a relationship with the UNC staff.
"That's going good," he said of UNC's recruitment. "I've talked to coach C.B. [McGrath] and I've just been building a relationship with them. They've been down a couple of times. It's going good too. We are just building a relationship."
Although Vaughn is in the midst of his season, he would still like to take some visits. He hasn't set any dates, but he's looking at taking some visits in the near future.
"I'm going to try and take some visits," he said. "I don't know what visits for sure, but I want to get out some."
Vaughn is regarded as the No. 2 shooting guard and the No. 14 overall prospect in the 2014 class.
