With his first major collegiate offer, 2013 DE Chris Palmer is planning his official visits this month.

"It feels great," Palmer said of the offer from Navy. "It's my first [division one] offer. It's great news and a great opportunity."

Palmer has not yet set a date for his official visit to Navy, but plans to take the trip in January.

On January 18th, Palmer will officially visit North Carolina Central, who made an offer in the fall.

"I want to have a great experience," Palmer said of the trip. "I want to see if I like the school and everything. [I want to] have fun."

Although Palmer is taking his visit to NC Central seriously, he would not consider making a commitment while on campus.

"I would have to speak with my parents before doing that," Palmer said. Palmer's parents have made college visits with him in the past, but are unable to visit NC Central on the 18th.

While in North Carolina, Palmer would like to hear more about the coaching staff's plans for his college career.

"They've shown me a lot of love," Palmer said of the NC Central staff. "I want to hear how they'll use me in the pass rush. I want to hear about their plans to let me get loose. They've told me before that they'll let me loose out there."

While Palmer has been recruited as a defensive end out of high school, he is willing to make a transition in college. If Palmer commits to Navy, he will be playing on the other side of the ball.

"They've told me I'll be playing on the offensive line," Palmer explained. "I'd like to hear more specific plans for my role."

Since the recruiting dead period has reopened, Palmer has also heard from Louisville and Maryland. He also hopes to hear from his hometown 'Dawgs.

"They've told me that I'm on their recruiting boards and have been working my way up there," Palmer said. "I'm also hoping to hear from Georgia now that they've gotten Coach Wilson from Mississippi State. He loves me; we built our relationship when he was at Mississippi State. I visited [Starkville] first when I was a sophomore."

Although Palmer has not yet planned any more visits, South Alabama will visit Palmer at Collins Hill High School (GA) on Friday.
