Chicago De La Salle junior offensive tackle Jamarco Jones is one of the most highly recruited prospects in the Midwest.
At 6-foot-6, 290-pounds, it's easy to see why, as Jones has had nearly every top program in his area come by and visit lately. Including, a visit from Michigan this winter.
"They came by before break. Like, early December," Jones told GoBlueWolverine. "They haven't been by this month at all. I talked to the coaching staff not too long ago. They said they'll be in soon and coach (Brady) Hoke will be in (to see me.)"
While Jones admits he has no favorites at the moment, he went on unofficial visits to Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Michigan, Ohio State, Illinois, and Purdue last fall.
What exactly is Jones looking for on his visits?
"Well if I go to the game, I try to look at the interaction with the players and the coaching staff on the sidelines and things like that," he explained. "And, you know, atmosphere and different things and I just (want to go on) a regular visit, a non-game visit, just trying to get a feel for the campus. And going on academic tours and seeing what they have to offer academically."
A four-star prospect, Jones says he has no preference on what type of offense he decides to play in college.
"At my school we run both styles of offense, spread and pro-set. So it really doesn't bother me either or," he said.
As far as a decision timetable, Jones says he will most likely make his final college choice before his senior campaign.
"I'm going to make my decision before my senior season starts," Jones admitted. "I am going to start visiting schools this spring and summer. I am going to visit as many schools as possibly can. I plan on visiting Northwestern, Ohio state, Michigan State, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Wisconsin. I want to get out to Florida. I am planning a visit this spring there. I would like to try to get out to Stanford as well. They've also been in a couple times to see me too."
