"He has a knack for finding the ball," Crest head coach Mark Barnes said. "He's a good tackler and plays well in space and does those things that you need a safety to be able to do – he gets down in the box and plays more like a linebacker when he needs to, but he can cover people as well.
"With as young as he is, you have to project what he's going to be like two years from now. So his coverage skills are going to get even better. He's going to get even stronger than he is right now. And I think he has a real high ceiling."
As a freshman, Roseboro started at free safety for a team that reached the NCHSAA 3AA Title game. On the season, he recorded ten interceptions. Last season, he added six more interceptions. He needs three more picks to break Crest's record for interceptions in a career – and he has two seasons to do it.
During his sophomore year, Roseboro saw some time on offense playing tailback in most games.
Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, and Ohio State have sent a representative to Crest High School during the Contact Period to check out Roseboro. Those schools, as well as almost every school in the ACC and SEC, regularly send mail to Roseboro.
"Everybody is inquiring," Barnes said. "No offers that I know of, but they're coming because he has played in a really good football program. And he's played against good people and he's had a lot of success."
Gunter Brewer was recruiting Cleveland County for UNC but has since handed off the territory to Walt Bell.
"Coach Brewer and I go back a long ways," Barnes said. "I think they're excited about Dominique and what his potential might be."
Brewer's excitement enticed him to invite Roseboro to the UNC-NC State football game last fall. It was Roseboro's first recruiting trip.
"It was amazing seeing all that light blue in the stands," Roseboro said. "And the fans were really loud. It was a great experience. All I could think was ‘I wish I could be out there.'"
Before the game, Roseboro conversed with Brewer.
"He said I was on top of their recruiting board," Roseboro said. "He said my junior year they should be offering."
At this early stage of his recruitment, Roseboro doesn't claim any favorite schools.
Roseboro is cousins of fellow highly regarded sophomore Darian Roseboro, a defensive lineman from Lincolnton. Brandon Spikes, who played his prep ball at Crest and now plays for the New England Patriots, is also Roseboro's cousin…. Outside of football, Roseboro play basketball and runs track for Crest.
