The Florida Gators continue their Junior Day roll along the offensive line with a commitment from Deland offensive tackle ben Knox. The 6-5, 265 pound Knox visited Gainesville on Saturday and is in transit home when we were able to catch up with his coach James Thomson. Thomson is new to Deland and will start coaching the Bulldogs in the 2013 season, but likes what he knows of his star pupil.
"I don't know him really, but he is supposed to be really good," Thomson said Saturday afternoon. "I think he will be great for us this year."
Florida offensive line coach Tim Davis and head coach Will Muschamp were big on the recruitment of Knox and have made some early moves on the offensive line for this 2014 class.
"He is there, but I didn't go up there with him," Thomson said of Knox visiting Gainesville for Junior Day on Saturday. "Coach Davis and Coach Muschamp are great recruiters and he committed to them today."
Thomson has a little feel of what Knox brings to the table.
"I watched him work out and lift a little bit," the coach said. "I saw his film and watched him play basketball. He has all the tools. I think we will have a good player and I am anxious to see him move and see him hit."
