Fields up to 6 Offers

Tallahassee Godby defensive back Tony Fields (5-10, 185) is starting to get out and see what it is like to be in college. He loved a recent trip to Louisville and he has a couple of more destinations in mind for the near future. The talented cornerback has six offers after getting two recently, and things are on the upswing now.

It was the first time tripping to Louisville and the recent transfer from North Florida Christian liked everything about the visit.

"It went really well," Tony Fields said of the trip. "I really connected with all the coaches real well. I am excited for the relationships I am building up there. I liked everything.

"When I first got there they had an academic presentation. Then we went to see the basketball game and that was cool. Afterward, we saw a highlight video and then I got time to spend with the DB coach and talked to Coach Duggans and Coach Strong a lot. We really connected."

Fields currently holds six offers from the Ole Miss, Mississippi State, TCU, Missouri, NC State, and Kentucky. He got the Missouri and North Carolina State offers just last week. He believes a few more schools are about to offer.

Next I think are Louisville, Alabama, and Ohio State," he said. "Alabama, they really like me and I am going up there soon. Ohio State, I talk to Coach Hinton a lot for the Buckeyes."

The Florida Gators is a team that is looking to sign at least three cornerbacks after really only getting two in the last two recruiting classes. Florida is another team Fields is looking at.

"There is interest in Florida," he said. "I talk to Coach Young and Coach Robinson. I will try and go down there this summer I believe. I talked to Coach Robinson at camp. He and I got to spend a lot of time together. He told me he really likes me."

He has visit plans to Alabama and Kentucky next and will take more that he doesn't know just yet.

Fields has no favorites, but he does know what he is looking for in a school.

"I am looking for somewhere that just feels right," he said. "That place where when I step on campus I just get that feeling. I want a place that is comfortable.

"I want coaching stability. In college football nothing is promised, but I want to go to a place where I think most of the coaches will still be there while I am there.

"I also want to play and / or start by sometime in my freshman or sophomore seasons."

He listed a few reasons these big time programs are looking at him.

"Some of my strengths are my awareness, intelligence, and knowledge of the game," Fields said. "I believe I bring a lot of leadership and will make my teammates better. I am a very unselfish person and will do anything to win."
