Four-star wants to visit

Arizona has offered four-star linebacker Rashaan Evans. Read on to hear his thoughts about the Wildcats and where they stand.

The focus of recruiting for the Arizona Wildcats since Rich Rodriguez took over the program has been to swing for the fences.

The Arizona staff has gone after high profile recruits and was able to snag a few in the 2013 recruiting class. It looks as if Rodriguez and company are at it again as

Auburn (Ala.) outside linebacker Rashaan Evans has picked up an offer from Arizona. He also holds offers from UCLA, USC, and Washington, but the Wildcats were the first school he mentioned out west.

"I've been hearing from the Pac-12 a lot," Evans said. "I have been hearing a lot from Arizona. I just talked to them a few days ago.

"They offered me and it was good. They just kept telling me more reasons why they wanted to me come there. They told me that even though I had a lot of offers from the south, that they want to let me know they are out there and have me as a main priority."

The 2014 recruit has previously been in contact with Matt Dudek, Arizona's recruiting coordinator, among other coaches.

"He tells me all the time that they want me," Evans said. "I'm one of their main priorities. They just want to get me over there for a visit and they really make sure I feel wanted.

"Dudek is a cool man. I can really relate to him. He treats me with respect and a lot of the time when he talks to me it's just us trying to bond with each other. We don't just talk about football, but he talks about life and how I'm doing. That's something that I like a lot."

Although Evans has established a good relationship with Dudek, he also wants to get to know the other coaches more.

"I haven't talked to the coaches there a whole lot just yet, but when I did, their personalities really seemed to go with mine," Evans said. "As we talk more, I expect our relationship to get stronger and stronger."

With the offer coming, the Wildcats have pressed to get Evans on campus. The intrigue that Arizona brings to the table was enough for the junior to set up a tentative date for late May.

"We have a week off in the spring and I will probably be heading over there during that week to check things out," Evans said. "I'm pretty sure that the week we have off is the week of May 20th, but I not positive."

Evans already sees Arizona as a contender in his recruitment, but wants to see the campus and meet the coaches before making up his mind.

"Arizona fits in pretty well," he said. "Just hearing from them makes me feel like I'm a pretty good player. I know if I ever went there, I'd fit in just fine. With me trying to go out there for a visit, I'm excited for them to sell me and seeing if I want to go there or not."

Evans will take his time with the recruiting process and see what is out there. He plans on making his decision in the fall, as he wants time to get to know the coaches at each school before committing.

"I want to try to be done with the recruiting process sometime during my senior season," Evans said. "I just want to find a place that I'm going to be happy. I don't want to go somewhere that I'm going to be miserable. One of the biggest things is going to be bonding with my position coach."
