"Southern Miss wants me to come visit so I can see what makes them stand out," Palelei said. "They liked everything about me - my balance and speed. They'd seen some of my previous workout maxes and were impressed. They let me know about junior day."
Louisiana Tech also offered.
"They basically said they liked the same things as Southern Miss," said Palelei, who is being recruited by the Bulldogs new ace recruiter, Jabbar Juluke. "They want me to try to attend junior day in March."
Wisconsin is now in the mix.
"One of their coaches grew up with my dad," he said. "He watched me when I was younger and said he always thought I would be a top back that makes it big. He was impressed with my highlights and wants me to come out and play for them."
The Ragin' Cajuns in Lafayette are showing significant interest.
"Coach (Marquase) Lovings hit me up on Facebook to see what's up," Palelei said. "He wanted to see more highlights and I showed him the new video."
"Utah and BYU have regularly checked up on me to see how things are going and what I have coming up," Palelei said.
He attended LSU junior day.
"It went really good," he said. "They treated me well and it was pretty fun overall."
Which new program has gotten into the Palelei sweepstakes?
"Arizona State has shown a lot of interest," he said. "They wanted me to come to their junior day. Their offensive coordinator and running backs coach both liked my film.
"They showed me the stats for their running backs and talked about their two-running back sets. They have three running backs that all got reps."
Palelei is sharpening his skills for the combine and camp circuit.
"I've been training for the Under Armour Combine in Houston March 16th," he said. "I'm working on footwork and focusing on lifting. I benched 185 pounds 38 times at the end of a workout. My max is 355 pounds.
"I'm trying to keep progressing with speed while I'm gaining weight. I'm pushing to get faster."
Palelei said his current measurements are 5-10, 200 pounds. As a sophomore he played at 5-7, 170 pounds.
