West: Top Ten Quarterbacks

The nation's top two quarterbacks, Kyle Allen and Keller Chryst, head the list of the West's top passers in 2014...

West: Early Top Ten Quarterbacks
Location: Scottsdale, Ariz.
High School: Desert Mountain
Size: 6-2, 195
Recruiting: Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, Colorado, Colorado State, Duke, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, Texas A&M, UCLA, West Virginia, Wisconsin
The Skinny: Not only is Allen the top signal caller in the West but the top guy nationally as well. He shows up great on film but it was his impressive performance at the SoCal NIKE Camp that put him over the top. He has a great frame at 6-3, 195 pounds, a powerful arm capable of making throws all over field and the ability to make throws outside of the pocket or run for yardage when necessary as well.
Location: Palo Alto, Calif.
High School: Palo Alto
Size: 6-3/215
Recruiting: Stanford, USC, Wisconsin, Pittsburgh
The Skinny: Chryst has a high upside and is one of the most physical quarterbacks in the country. He looks all of 6-3, 220 pounds and shrugs aside would be pass rushers with ease while still being able to make throws down the field. He has a very strong arm, is solid mechanically and shows surprising athleticism for a big quarterback. He had to run for his life in a lot of games and shows great escape ability and toughness.
Location: Novato, Calif.
High School: San Marin
Size: 6-3/185
Recruiting: Arizona, Utah State, Arizona State, Oregon, Washington, Cal, UCLA
The Skinny: In terms of overall upside, Wilkins is right there with Allen and Chryst. All three were at the Oakland NIKE Camp last year and Wilkins might have had the best day. He's still relatively new to the position and isn't as polished as the other two but has looked good in 7 on 7 action this winter and has every tool you could want in a future college signal caller.
Location: Westlake Village
High School: Oaks Christian
Size: 6-4/215
Recruiting: Notre Dame, Utah, Alabama, Auburn, USC, UCLA
The Skinny: Physically Dawkins has a lot going for him and we've compared him multiple times to Carolina Panther QB Cam Newton in terms of his size and physicality, He has a huge down field arm, spins the football well and has natural leadership ability. He works hard, is very coachable and if he can continue to refine his throwing mechanics and progress as a decision maker, sky is the limit.
Location: San Jose, Calif.
High School: Bellarmine Prep
Size: 6-4/207
Recruiting: Committed to Vanderbilt
The Skinny: You can make an argument that in a group of quarterbacks that all have plus arm strength, Carta-Samuels may have the biggest arm in the group. The quarterback loves the weight room and is a tireless worker on his game. He may not be as good an athlete as his older brother Austyn, who is a sophomore at Vanderbility, but he moves around very well and is a better pure thrower.

The Next Five:
6. Brad Kaaya (West Hills, Calif.)
7. Jalen Greene (Gardena, Calif.)
8. Morgan Mahalak (Kentfield, Calif.)
9. Nick Bawden (Los Gatos, Calif.)
10. JaJuan Lawson (Petaluma, Calif.)
