Bader earns SEC Player of the Week

Florida freshman outfielder Harrison Bader was named SEC Freshman of the Week on Monday during a stretch where the Gators went 4-0 against No. 7 Florida State and No. 8 South Carolina.

Harrison Bader hit .462 (6-for-13) during the four games last week and delivered clutch plays to help the Gators win. Bader delivered a two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning on Friday to give the Gators the lead for good. He went 4-for-9 against the Gamecocks with a team-high four RBI and stole two bases in as many attempts.

Bader also went 2-for-4 and scored three runs in Florida's 4-3 win at Florida State. He scored the game-winning run after reaching on an error, taking third on a failed pickoff attempt and scored on a sacrifice fly by Josh Tobias. Bader also delivered a home run robbing catch with the game tied at two in the fifth inning.

Bader is the first Florida freshman to earn the honor since Casey Turgeon on May 7, 2012.

The Gators return to action on Tuesday at Florida Gulf Coast at 6:30 p.m.
