"Proud to announce that I will be continuing my career at the University of Florida !! #Gators," Carter posted on the social network Twitter moments ago.
He has three years left to play two and is seeking a waiver to allow him to play in 2013-14 with all of three turmoil surrounding Rutgers basketball and the coaching change.
In the last six years Florida has taken on transfers in the form of Vernon Macklin, Mike Rosario, Damontre Harris, and Dorian Finney-Smith. The result in the first three is three straight trips to the Elite-Eight and all three starting for Florida and playing well. Harris and Finney-Smith will see their first action as Gators this coming season and will beef up a front court that desperately needed numbers last season.
If Carter is allowed to play this year, he should become an immediate impact with the losses of Kenny Boynton and Rosario to graduation. He will be joined in the back court by senior Scottie Wilbekin, sophomores Michael Frazier, Braxton Ogbueze, and Dillon Graham, along with freshman Kasey Hill.
We will stay in touch with the story to see whether or not Carter receives a waiver to play this season, but even if not, he will provide a great presence during practice for the other guards on the team.
