Carter 'excited' to get to Gainesville

Former Rutgers guard Eli Carter announced in late April that he would transfer to finish his final two years of eligibility at Florida. The school made that decision official on Friday. Carter has put in a waiver to the NCAA to be eligible for the 2013-14 season, but there hasn't been a decision made at this point.

"I'm excited to get down to Florida, and I can't wait to start gelling with the team and the coaches," Eli Carter said.

Florida received Carter's official notification of his intent to transfer to Florida and join the basketball team on Friday.

He played two years at Rutgers, scoring 14.3 points per game in 56 total games played in 46 starts, leading the Scarlet Knights in scoring during each of his years on campus.

Carter is a career 39.8 percent shooter from the field, hitting 33.8 percent of his shots from behind the three-point line. He also averages three rebounds per game.

"Eli is a great addition to our team, and we're pleased he's a Gator now," head coach Billy Donovan said.
