UM Recruiting Scoop: 7/26

Read on for all the latest recruiting news and information surrounding the University of Miami, with complete analysis from CanesTime's Mike Bakas.

* Alin Edouard committed to the Hurricanes several months ago and remains on the commitment list. However, he's been exploring other options lately. He told Scout today that Tennessee and Cincinnati are the two main competitors right now, and that the reason he's still exploring other options is because he's not completely sure Miami will let him play quarterback. The Hurricanes have landed two quarterback commitments since James Coley became offensive coordinator, and it seems like Edouard is getting more and more likely to jump ship and add his name to another school's commitment list.

* Terry Googer is a three-star wide receiver prospect from the state of Georgia. At 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, Googer is a big receiver who could grow into a pass-catching tight end at the college level. He told Scout yesterday that he plans to announce his college decision in a few weeks, and that he already knows where he's going. Miami offered him in the spring, and he visited here earlier this summer but it doesn't appear as though Miami's likely going to be his school of choice.

* Demetrius Knox is a 4-star offensive line prospect from the state of Texas. The Hurricanes offered him early in the process and the one-time Texas commit seemed like a longshot at that time. Two things have happened lately that is starting to make you believe the Canes are very much in the running. First, he took an unofficial visit here over the summer and came away impressed. Then, earlier this week, he mentioned Art Kehoe as the assistant coach with the best resume of those recruiting him. He plans to take an official visit here later in the year. While it'll still be tough to land him, he's gone from a longshot to someone who the Canes seem to have a legitimate chance with.

* While the Hurricanes are waiting on the fall arrival of five defensive linemen (Ufomba Kamala, Quan Muhammad, Devante Bond, David Gilbert, and Julio Derosier), they also had some interest in getting Juco transfer Demetrius Campbell on campus for the fall semester. His academic situation for UM didn't work out, and he announced today that he plans to enroll at Texas Tech next week.
